Cinderella time

It's that time of year again. The time when good teams go down to lesser teams and the Cinderella slips her foot into the shoe again.

Such is the case for Great Bend baseball. The Panthers had a less than .500 record, 8-12 (10-12 after the regional) entering the Salina South Regional, then knocked off rival Hays in the first game and the outlasted Hutchinson in eight innings for a one run, 3-2 win to head to state. Unbelievable.

Having seen them play, I thought they would fall in the first round OR fall in the championship, but they proved me wrong.

Congrats to Great Bend for making state. Don't let the ball end too soon...

Watch out for Bluestem softball tomorrow night. Going 0-20 into 3A Regional in Douglass. They have knocked off the #2 and #3 seed and face the #1 seed in the Championship!

It would be nice to see Bluestem make it. Also Kudos to Great Bend, Hays is always such a rival.

The douglass bulldogs won their baseball regional beating #1 Ranked Collegiate and #3 ranked Medicing Lodge!! No one in the right mind would have thought that collegiate would be knocked out, especially not by douglass.

Congrats to Douglass BB and Great Bend and good luck to Bluestem tonight in Douglass! Cinderellas make it exciting. Much better than a team getting a walkthru in a Regional but earning the berth the HARD way!
